Still looking for a new bass player.. but "the show must go on!."

we are playing saturday.  well we are pretty sure.

We had to cancel our show on June 16th at vaudeville mews... whoops....  but we are playing June 22nd to make it up..

New Songs... 1st one is: Paper Dolls.

 May 8th

Dowling Palooza was a victorious dissapointment.   Rob and Rachel did not play, so that was the dissapointment. The victory was we played anyway (paul and kyle), and gave dowling a good vision of antigenre.  (not the best, but we did our best to accomidate the situation.)   Tonight we head down to java joes to play one song. Concrete Decay.  This will be rachel's last.  no feelings are hurt.

              March 16th

bang sugar bang canceled... so we are now playing at vaudeville on april 10th...   rachel is out of town for this show so we will be playing without her.  we are not sure yet how we will fill her absence.   suggestions? email antigenremusic@aol.com

Feburary 24th

it has been a while since an update... lot's of things brewing in antigenre. . .    the Funny Bone Comedy Club show has been CANCELED, due to some organizing issues...    that show will be made up somehow... probably may...   Things are looking quite bleak show-wise..   our next date is too far away... April 13th at Vaudeville Mews.     thats too bad. but its our fault because we couldnt do the other dates offered to us.   too difficult for our own good...

New songs on the way...   that means somthing to check out if you can make it to a live show.  thanks so much for your time. which is closly related to patience. k (ag)

  february 9th

these cold days make me feel extra warm inside.  dont let them leave. im not ready yet...

ZPS  Vantage Point, Thank you josh from LM... thanks for putting on a great show last night at the benifit show... we had a great time even though it was like playing inside a hollow echo tube (those dont exhist)    ..   ZPS saved the show with the PA from reimens...  cant ever thank them enough... the show would have been bad without them.    make sure to go see them on march 16th at the vaudeville mews...

next show at this point is at the Funny Bone Comedy Club... not sure what is gonna happen here... i just want more songs.

sorry about Aporia.. i didnt have the lyrics memorized yet...   it needs some work... thanks for listening.

Some Words:

ten makeshift reasons give into the turbintine breaths of the forgiven. but the way it seems has gone to far way, for me.  The fantisy extends a hand, to condensend the free. far way to plead a simple please of finite endless ends have met at a certian kind of lie that changes our lives.

  January 10th

ten days into twothousand five.  we cant tell you how thankful we are to those who made it last sunday...   the recent activities in antigenre land is to write an hoard of songs. these songs are intended to really seperate us from the rest.  a ten song lp is being aimed for the end of may.

some words:

I rescured to silent wave to bring ahold of Gibran's words. take them so far to truth. it hurts. i was so close to bringing the whole world down into my face. to cover up the old distasteful plan. reflectful on myself and what it meants to be just another human being-and every day is just the same to me.

the light draws my eyes in a devistating way. the tranquility of the oppressed soon gives way. blue eyes sing softly to yellow chin of me. to be here is laughter, but they cry out: "one more time to stand still. one last chance for peace. one more time to make a difference to the stars" your words float over me like candles they preach softly. lick

December 8th. 2004

Last Nights show was amazing.

Thank you so much to anyone who came out to witness, we are so appreciative of your kindness. . .

TWO GALLANTS

These guys pulled up, a bit confused and lost  it seemed.  They looked to me like theyve been on the road for years, slowly without a smile dragging their soul extentions.  Thesesguys looked to me like they have been to war and back.  In the winter of this month, they fit so well.   They played the most beautiful set that i have ever had the pleasure to watch.  I could relate to these two men, those two gallants.  Their beat up suburban was filled with firewood and sleeping bags.  camping in dead winter rose up a huge jealousy and respect from me.    Crow Jane.  Las Cruces Jail.  These men.  These two gallants know what life is.  i can tell through their music and lifestyle.  Their love for everything and everyone radiated to me in such a beautiful way.   These two gallants, like horsemen in the rockies.  smokey mountian men with a haunted past, brothers.  please give these guys your support.  they are most deserving.please spread their love.  www.twogallants.com

(you have to check out their video in the music section)

Okay some things are back up.  there are still some things to be done but they will be done soon.    We are going to record again mostly likely before 2005 rolls around.  We have enough songs, we just need to perfect and find time.  You can hear the new ones on december 8th at vaudeville... hope to see you there.

November 27th 12:51 am

technically yesterday (november 26th) i was updating the site and i deleted it all on accident.  that proves that i dont know what i am doing.  so i had to rebuild everything from the beginning.  so far i only have the main home page done.... but i should finish everything by later today.

its hard to think clearly with all this food in me, and i cannot be successfully creative... so i wont even try.

hope everyone had a good bird. kyle.

thanks for checking back with us, its been about a month.  these months are so grey that i forget i have a computer.      good news everyone.  we are getting played on a online radio station called Best Alternative Music.   you can listen HERE.   The Des Moines Music Coalition is really taking off.   please give them a visit and your support DMMC   we are extremly excited for this next show on December 8th at the Vaudeville Mews.   We know that we will put on a great show.  Rob is back and well, and we are defiantly loving the music. DEFIANTLY.     I know its tough for most to come out so late on a school night, but somebody has to fill the weeknight shows.. please make it if you can, we have new songs and will be recording very soon.  kyle

  Monday... Nov.1. 4:56

And of course. I went to chicago this weekend to find a new sense of being. and i found it.  completly invigorated i am ready.  The new song will be called "Concrete Decay" for all the wrong reasons.. The reasons i named it that are not wrong, but the ideas in the song are moraly wrong. but nobody sees that yet. (or maybe nobody voices it) and that makes me feel alone, but special.. damn good rain this week.  more new songs on the way. please wait for us because chicago awaits me.

"So who knows the answers?  If you do then write them down and burn them."

  Tuesday October 19th.. 1026pm

First of all we want to thank anyone who has been to one of our recent shows; we will admit that the last two havent been the greatest, but we have been presented with some difficult situations recently. We are currently working out new material which I'm positive will be good stuff....this last month has sucked due to a variety of things including limited practice time, being Robless, Kyle's writing block, and some flaring emotions, but we have settled down now and are ready to rock.  our next group of shows we will be branching out.. shows in iowa city and ames as well as the house of bricks, and of course Vaudeville Mews, who has always treated us with the love that we deserve...be patient and Antigenre will reward you...

Monday October 4th 521pm

As of today, the show on the 15th will not be happening.. too many bands, and we didnt quite fit in the genre. but... strange because we are anti? new songs with strong rhythmic drives are falling off the assmbly line. and now the pile is knee deep. but not deep enough.  goals for spring are high, and we are springing to meet them, but now in the fall. things might slow a bit as we take time to write.  we will be playing fewer shows, so make sure you come to the Vaudeville Mews                                                  show on the 16th.  It is going to be a fucking awesome time.                                                        till next time. ag

 Saturday September 25th 6pm.

The last few shows was a great bunch, from The House of Bricks to Vaudeville Mews, we really had a good time and hope that you, who came of course, did also.  We shall repay you for comming to our shows with new songs soon.  We dont have them written yet, but we really feel that we need more songs.  This means that we will be doing less shows than in the past few months for downtime to write more songs.  Talk                                                       of a regional or national tour is being balanced, so that is a                                            possibility down the road. Anyway, thanks for comming and                                                       we hope to see you at the next show. antigenre.

 Saturday September 11 509pm:

so its september 11... and nobody has anything to say

     Thursday, September 2nd, 3:52pm:

...well... new songs are being conjured. Time is running scarce with at least a show every week this month.. This week alone we have had two, and then we got saturday: which we are extremly excited for. there is a good balance of metal and alternative bands playing, which will make a really cool spectacle... but about the song writting process, good things will come from october, with time to relax. Im guessing we will not schedual any more than two shows for october because we need time to get a new set up and running. . . dont forget to eat the leaves.ag.

  17 tuesday august 7 54 am:

New songs are in the making. . . new goals are being written. . .potential lyrics are being gathered. . . and stuff. after august. hope fully we wil get some downtime and some inspiration to create some crazy songs, some really creative rock songs. . . in the mean time, go to the shows and stuff. we have tickets for sale for the august 22nd show at house of bricks. they are cheaper if you buy them from us instead of the venue. hopefully they will call us again.

                                                               Thursday August 5th 412pm):

Some of the new songs are up on purevolume now.. That includes the studio recording of Selfless, and the new ones: Till Tomorrow and Dirty Shoes. Dont forget to be at our show on the 9th. and if you want a cd, email kyle at Obscuredstarla79@aol.com, or IM him at Obscuredstarla79. Listen to the new songs at www.purevolume.com/antigenre-antigenre

                               Sunday July 26 (12:10am):

as stated above.. our next show is at vaudeville mews on august 9th.. it starts at 9 pm. we think we are playing 3rd.. but who knows? The cds are completly done. The five song "mini album" is called "Stronger in Numbers" or for the strange people: SIN/ they will be for sale for five dollars. the best time to pick up one would be at our show on August 9th.. Antigenre will be pretty much dead for the next two weeks. rachel and kyle are out of town, so nothing will be happening. new songs should be ready by august 9th though. -keep interested (ange)

                              Saturday-July17-12:26pm:

Our show last Tuesday went great. We played the best we have ever played and had a great time. Thanks to anyone who watched us, we appreciate the support. Our current endevor is to focus on recording. We will be all finished by the end of the month. We have five songs recorded, instead of our intended four. The cd will be five dollars to cover our recording cost of about $500. Stickers and Cds will be available through us, or through Trademarks at Valley West Mall. Hopefully more shows will be schedualed, but it is hard because everyone in the band is leaving periodically over the next month and a half. -theantigenre-

                           Tuesday July 6th 12:36AM:

We have a show now at Vaudeville Mews at 9 PM with Built Like Alaska, Mondo Cane, and LKN. The Date is July 13th, a tuesday. We are first, so be there at Nine. (doors open at 8) for directions visit www.vaudevillemews.com please come see us because i know many havent.

We are going to record next week at Smoking Guns Studio. We should have a four song EP out by August. Songs including: Horizon, Till Tomarrow, Selfless, and another which we are deciding on. Another show is being planned for September 4th. A little ways down the road. More shows should develop this summer. Till then, or till next tuesday, AG

                            sunday/june20/1:15am:

well... things are strange. We are supposed to have a date at vaudeville mews on july first.. The booking guy offered it to us, and we said that we would take it. But he hasnt responded since. so who knows whats going on? New songs are being developed. Anyone like guitar solos? well if you do, then you will like our new songs. Full of um. Its really cool stuff, its not like anything you would ever hear on the radio. Its very... new and refreashing. thats my opinion anyway. i cant wait for the songs to be heard. i think that they will be well received, but in a new way. it will be different than anything you have every associated radio with. for example:you hear a song on the radio... somthing sticks in your head about it, and you like it. you get the goosebumps on that one point where you totaly love the song. (i must admitt that hasnt happend to me from the radio for about 7 years) These new songs are different. chances are you wont remember the lyrics, or any catchy riffs, but that feeling. that hair raising-goosebump feeling will attack you and you will love it. of course not everyone will. but listen with not only open ears, but with open minds too. because this stuff could be a new experience to most.kj.

                           Tuesday/june 1/3:24pm:

finally we are up on purevolume to access our page click on www.purevolume.com/antigenre Our one recorded song, Selfless, is on there along with a couple pictures. Selfless is a home recording so the sound quality is not very good. But, its somthing for anyone to listen to.

about our upcomming shows, the possible show on june 18th is probably no longer possible. All the venues are booked already, so there is nowhere to play. But, vaudeville is clearing the date of August 11th, so that will be somthing to look for. in the present, anyway, we are just currently writting more songs... hopefully we will get to a studio within the month of June to record some songs. AG

Tuesday/May 25/11:03pm:

I got an email today from a band called "knife". I am not sure where they are from, but i think St. Louis. They are planning a tour and hope to play a show on June 18th. We will set one up probably at Vaudeville Mews because the House of Bricks is being a bitch and not returning my phone calls. But we are looking forward to that show, plus the possible show in the 11th of August with "Never Look Back" from Illinois. They are both punk bands, but whatever gets us onstage is a great oppertunity... hmm... hopefully we will get the all clear from Vaudeville to play our shows there. if not im gonna have to keep bothering HOB. tillnexttimekj

Saturday/May21/12:03am:

Its been a busy week we have been recording a demo in kyle's basement. It sounds pretty good for a home recording. We got that turned in to The House of Bricks, and they called us back, but i missed their call, so i am not sure what the reaction is.. i called back a few minutes ago, and am hoping for a call back. If anyone wants a copy of the song Selfless... email Kyle at Obscuredstarla79@aol.com and ill send you it either in the mail, or just hand it to you. I dont understand how to put MP3s on websites yet.

The event that we are trying to get into is called the '04 Band Brawl. It is pretty much just a 12 week long battle of the bands. more details here The House of Bricks Band BrawlWe will be waiting to see what happens here.

The next point of interest is a possible show Weds, August 11th at somewhere.. A band called Never Look Back is planning their tour, and plan to come through Des Moines. They emailed us, and we are currently setting up a venue and a time. Hopefully we will get somthing set up.
